Fun Games for Christmas Road Trips

Christmas Road Trips

Going To Grandma & Grandpa’s Is, Even More, Fun Now

When you and your family hit the road this holiday season to visit your loved ones, be prepared with lots of fun games to keep you entertained. Whether the trip is short or long, there are games you can play to help pass the time and raise the holiday cheer. Who knows when you’ll be stuck in holiday traffic and need to keep morale high. Here are a few games that we at Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet in Newton, NC recommend.

Holiday I Spy

This is a classic game that never fails to keep everyone engaged. Put a holiday spin on it by only allowing “I Spy” items that are related to the holiday season.

Six Degrees of Separation

You can also put a spin on this classic game by trying to link different actors, singers, or celebrities that have either sung a cover of a Christmas song or starred in a Christmas movie. Remember, you must have fewer than six associations!

Holiday Karaoke

This will be a goofy and possibly embarrassing game, but it will surely make you and your family laugh. Either have some family sing-a-longs to holiday music or, if you’re feeling daring, download the instrumental-only versions of your favorite Christmas tunes and have you and your family take turns providing the vocals.

Fall Driving Locations: North Carolina Country Roads

Fallen Roads Around North Carolina

Fall is the perfect time to go for a ride in North Carolina. That’s why we’ve posted a list of fall driving locations in the area, specifically country roads you won’t want to leave. The open road, crisp air, and autumn foliage are the perfect way to relax on a fall day.

According to OnlyInYourState, every North Carolinian loves to visit Blue Ridge Parkway more than any other location when it comes to driving. This 469-mile strip of road has it all: mountain views, waterfalls, lakes, and steep drops. Thanks to large overhangs, you will have the perfect vantage to see acres and acres of bright leaves as they change from bright green to dark earth tones.

Another great drive is the Whitewater Way, which gets its name from the falls. As the highest waterfall east of the Rockies, this location is a must-see place for any driver. The Whitewater Way can be found on Highway 281 between Sapphire and the South Carolina border. You can also stop by the Gorges State Park or the Nantahala National Forest as well.

Hanging Rock and Pisgah Loop Scenic Byways are also great for driving. Hanging Rock is a winding road that goes straight through the Sauratown mountain chain, while the Pisgah Loop takes you along an ancient forest. Running parallel to the Blue Ridge Parkway at times, it’s the perfect place to stop by for some peaceful hiking.

Other great locations include Waterfall Byway, Meteor Lake, Mount Mitchell Scenic Byway, Tail of the Dragon, Upper Yadkin Way, and the Outer Banks Scenic Byway. You’ll learn to love driving again once you stop by these beautiful fall driving locations.
