Chevy’s 238-Mile Promise

238-Mile promise

The Doors Are Open

Chevy has made a promise – a 238-Mile promise. So, what does this mean? Well, with the all-new Chevy Bolt, it means you’ll be going far.

Chevy has promised that the 2017 Chevrolet Volt EV will have a 238-mile range on a full charge. This is groundbreaking for not just the Chevy Bolt, but for electric cars everywhere.

Fully electric cars have gained popularity over the last years, partly because of its money-saving efficiency and partly because of its low environmental impact. That’s why Chevy has devoted so much to making the Chevy Bolt the ideal electric car.

GM hopes to not only boost the popularity of this car, but raise the standard of electric cars themselves. The Chevy Bolt will be unique because unlike most other EV’s on the market, it will have a range of over 200 miles when fully charged, and it’ll come in at a reasonable MSRP of $37,000. And that’s before the $7,500 federal tax rebate.

“If you look at the reason why people didn’t buy electrified or pure electric vehicles, it was really around either the cost or price range, or in some cases utility. We think with the Bolt we have all of those covered and more,” said Mark Reuss, GM executive vice president of global product development.

The 2017 Chevy Bolt is sure to impress. Are you excited for it? Let all of us know at Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet near Charlotte, NC today!

Dale Earnhardt Statue

Dale Earnhardt Statue

A Fitting Tribute

Just about everyone knows the name “Dale Earnhardt.” One of the most notable race car drivers of all time, Earnhardt set an abundance of records and worked his way into all of our hearts. In Kannapolis, North Carolina, you’ll be able to find a touching tribute to him: a Dale Earnhardt statue.

One of the top NASCAR drivers of all time, Earnhardt died doing what he loved: racing. In February 2001, he was competing in the infamous Daytona 500 when his car was bumped from behind, causing him to crash into a wall head-on. His son, Dale Earnhardt Jr., finished second in the race. Tragically, Earnhardt Sr. was brought to Halifax Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

His legacy, however, has not died. You can visit his statue in nearby Kannapolis, North Carolina to pay him tribute! Earnhardt was referred to as the “working man’s” driver and his statue stands tall in that nickname, donning a button-down with rolled-up sleeves, a pair of jeans, and cowboy boots.

Over his career, Earnhardt won 76 races and 7 Winston Cup Championships, making him one of NASCAR’s greatest drivers. His “working man” nickname was given to him because of his laid-back attitude and relatability to fans.

So if you’re an Earnhardt fan, check out the Dale Earnhardt statue in his hometown of Kannapolis, and stop by The Intimidator’s actual dealership in Newton, NC at Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet.

Lyft Will Offer New Chevy Bolt Through Express Drive Program

Express Drive program

The Chevy Bolt Is On It’s Way

In a modern world that relies increasingly on smartphone apps and social media to streamline our daily routine, auto makers sometimes need to take a leap into the realm of technology in order to stay one step ahead of the competition. That’s why General Motors is partnering up with the Lyft ridesharing app in order to draw attention to the upcoming all-electric 2017 Chevrolet Bolt. The Bolt will be available to Lyft drivers through the app’s new Express Drive program.

There are benefits to this for both drivers and passengers. Express Drive allows Lyft drivers to rent a vehicle for free or for a significantly reduced cost to use while they’re on the job, reducing the amount of gas they use in the process. Driver and rider alike will get exposed to Chevy’s new Bolt, which is essentially free advertising for GM. Plus, the 2017 Bolt will serve as an environmentally-friendly option for Lyft drivers who want to reduce emissions while they’re on the road.

The presence of the Chevy Bolt as a rental option in the Express Drive program is only the first step in the auto maker’s long-term vision for the partnership. Ideally, the eventual goal is for General Motors to develop a network of autonomous vehicles that will be able to shuttle Lyft customers without a driver. However, as self-driving tech is still in development, that aspiration is still a few years out of sight.

If you are anxious to see a Chevy EV now, visit Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet in Newton, NC, and look at the Chevy Volt today!

Dale Earnhardt’s Pass in the Grass Still Considered the Greatest NASCAR Moment

Pass in the Grass

Pass in the Grass

Almost thirty years ago, at the NASCAR All-Star Race in 1987, the legendary driver Dale Earnhardt performed one of the most famous saves in NASCAR history, which was dubbed “the Pass in the Grass,” a misnomer that nonetheless stuck around for three decades.

Earnhardt’s rival, Bill Elliott, was also in the race, and he and Earnhardt were neck and neck for most of it. With eight laps to go in the race, Earnhardt and Elliott took a corner together, and Earnhardt spun sideways into the grass.

Miraculously, though, he almost immediately pulled out of the grass and back onto the track. The grass in the middle of the track is described as being “like ice” to drive on, and fans remark that no other driver would’ve been able to control the car and get it back on course.

What’s more, the “pass” wasn’t a pass at all. Earnhardt had the lead when he went into the grass and kept it when he pulled out. In a fumble that would’ve ended the race for most other drivers, Earnhardt kept the lead and went on to win the All-Star race, to the fury of Elliott and his team.

The Pass in the Grass is just one of the many incredible feats that made Dale Earnhardt the most famous name in NASCAR history. To see more of his moments visit Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet online, or in Newton, NC near Hickory!
