The Most Famous Fictional Racecar Drivers

Fictional Racecar Drivers

If You Ain’t First, You’re Last

Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet is named after the most famous NASCAR driver in the history of the sport. Dale Earnhardt was a living legend! Outside of the real world, professional racing has quite a few legendary drivers in fiction as well. Here is a list of some of the most famous fictional racecar drivers.

Ricky Bobby: Ricky Bobby lives by a code: If you ain’t first, you’re last. That is why the star of Talladega Nights comes in on the top of our list of fictional racecar drivers.

“Mad” Max Rockatansky: Max Rockatansky doesn’t drive to win—he drives to survive. For years, Mad Max has been taking to the road to face the threats of a post-apocalyptic world, even in his latest film Mad Max: Fury Road.

Captain Falcon: Although Nintendo’s signature racecar driver is a legend on the track, he is probably more famous for his powerful Falcon Punch.

Speed Racer: Revving up the powerful Mach 5, Speed has an arsenal of tools and gadgets that make him a demon on wheels.

Is there anybody you’d add to or take off this list? Tell us (big Chevrolet NASCAR fans!) at Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet in Newton, NC

It’s Time to Spring Clean Your Car

spring clean your car

Spring Into These Car Cleaning Tips

March is here and spring is right around the corner, which means it is time to get rid of winter gunk and clutter and spring clean your car. Follow these simple steps and your car will be squeaky clean and sparkling like the day you bought it.

  • Clean it out. Take everything out of your car (including the trunk). If it’s not attached, take it out. Then, throw away all the trash and keep only what you actually need. Don’t put anything back in until you’ve finished the cleaning process.
  • Remove the floor mats and work from the top down. Vacuum every surface and crevice you can and don’t forget to get under the seats. If you floor mats are really bad, hose them down with a power washer and let them dry in the sun.
  • Check the upholstery. If you have any dirty spots on your seats, get some upholstery cleaner and scrub away. Do the same thing with the carpets. Make sure you let your car air out for a while with the windows open so everything can dry. It’s best to do this when you won’t have to drive for a couple of days.
  • Wash your car. Just like the interior, wash from the top down, rinsing frequently. We also recommend getting the underbody rinsed at a local car wash. Once everything is clean and dry, apply a fresh coat of wax.
  • Enjoy your work. Step back and look at your pristine, sparkling car. It may only stay like this for a few days, but try and enjoy it while it lasts.

Are you adding spring car cleaning to your calendar? If you think cleaning is a lost cause, then come to Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet near Charlotte, NC and we will get you in a nice new car instead!

GM Earns Title as Top-Selling Auto Brand in 2015

Top-Selling Auto Brand in 2015

Steer Towards Chevy

2015 was a big year for the automotive industry, both in the United States and around the globe. Total sales of automobiles reached record highs, as more cars were sold last year than ever before. The automaker leading the charge in the ongoing rebound of the American automotive market was General Motors.

As top dog, General Motors was the top-selling auto brand in 2015 in North America, South America, and China. The automaker 3.6 million vehicles in North America and China each, proving that GM is still on the rise.

“GM continued to grow in 2015 as our focus on the customer and successful new vehicle launches more than offset the challenging conditions in South America and the curtailment of our presence in certain markets such as Russia,” said GM President Dan Ammann.

The GM brand with the biggest success story in 2015 was Chevrolet, which continued to be the best-selling badge in GM’s portfolio year after year. In fact, Chevy’s total sales increased 5% in 2015, exceeding 2.1 million and greatly contributing to the stunning 9.8 million vehicles sold by GM around the globe last year.

Despite those high numbers, each one of those vehicles were made with care and quality, just like the Chevy models we’re selling at Dale Earnhardt Chevy in 2016.

Take a Trip on The Dale Trail

The Dale Trail

Dale Trail Ridge

Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet is especially interested in Dale Earnhardt. We think that he is fantastic, and are proud of serving the area around The Dale Trail, which goes through Dale Earnhardt’s hometown and stops at landmarks which relate to his life and NASCAR career.

The tour begins along Dale Earnhardt Blvd, in Kannapolis, North Carolina, which was named in 1992. On this street is the Cabarrus County Convention and Visitors Bureau’s Visitor Center where people can pick up a collectible brochure and map of The Dale Trail.

Once on the trail, you will visit the Car Town neighborhood where Dale grew up and used to race his bike. You will also see where he cruised in his yellow ’56 Chevrolet as a teenager. During these stops, you will learn about how Dale gained his love for racing by watching his dad (Ralph Earnhardt) build race cars.

The trail also passes by Ralph Earnhardt’s grave, with a race car engraved on it. Highway 29 – known as the “Flying Mile” can be seen where the mechanics tested the cars that they worked on.

In addition to Dale Earnhardt’s childhood landmarks, there is the Dale Earnhardt Plaza in downtown Kannapolis and the Curb Motorsports Museum which displays NASCAR history.

There are many more stops along the way, and we at Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet hope that you spend some time exploring Dale Earnhardt’s history. This trail is the first motorsports heritage trail in the country, and if you need a car to travel the trail, be sure to stop by Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet.

Driving While Drowsy is More Dangerous Than You Might Think

driving while drowsy

Yawning & Driving Don’t Mix

Believe it or not, an estimated 1 in 25 drivers report having fallen asleep while behind the wheel in the past thirty days. Driving while drowsy is one of the most hazardous situations you can put yourself in and has often been compared to driving while intoxicated. If you wouldn’t get behind the wheel drunk, think twice about driving while tired.

According to the CDC, driving while drowsy makes drivers less able to pay attention to the road ahead, slows reaction time, and affects your ability to make good driving decisions. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) estimates that over 72,000 crashes and 6,000 fatalities occur each year because of drowsy driving.

What are the warning signs? Yawning or blinking frequently, difficulty remembering the past few miles, missing exits, drifting from lane to lane, and hitting rumble strips are indicators that you are too tired to drive. Although people who do not get enough sleep are likely to drive drowsy, it also occurs with people who have sleep disorders, people who change work shifts, and people who take certain medicines.

How can you prevent it? Get enough sleep! Each adult needs between seven and nine hours of sleep per night. You should pull over if you are too tired, and take a break. You can also roll down the windows, listen to the radio, chew ice chips, and drink caffeine. Or you can test drive one of our many Nissan models at Dale Earnhardt in Charlotte, NC and the thrill we keep you awake for sure!
