Celebrating Tomatoes

This year’s Homegrown Tomato Festival is the place to be this July 28th. The festival celebrates everything tomato, ranging from crowning the best tomato grower to eating tomato sandwiches. The Homegrown Tomato Festival will take place at the NoDa Brewing Company. The local festival allows tomato lovers to celebrate as they please, with live music and entertainment keeping the event lively. Two contests, the Best Tomato Grower and Best Tomato Themed Cocktail, pit tomato lovers against one another in the quest for a crown.

Tomato sandwiches, a hot commodity, will be in full supply at the event. The sandwiches feature locally grown tomatoes of all kinds, shapes, and sizes. The produce is grown by local growers and small farms. The Bulb will run this year’s tomato sandwich booth. The Bulb focuses on providing the local area with access to food sources and health and wellness education. To provide access to food sources, The Bulb hosts pop-up markets with produce provided by local farmers and culinary classes. Proceeds from the tomato sandwich booth will be split between 100 Gardens and The Bulb.

100 Gardens Charity

Proceeds from other attractions will benefit 100 Gardens, a charity that builds aquaponics labs and develops curriculum in local schools. Easy Tips for Spring Cleaning Your Car

Spring cleaning your car

Getting A Clean Slate

Spring means warmer weather, longer days, and taking care of some spring cleaning at home. Don’t forget to give some attention to your car, though! In fact, now is the perfect time of year to perform some routine maintenance, so follow these easy tips and tackle spring cleaning your car like a pro.

Wash and wax

Let’s face it: driving a car that looks fresh and new just feels better. Keeping your car’s exterior clean isn’t all about looks, though. It’s important to wash off any corrosive buildup that is common during the winter months and then to add a protective layer of wax. Doing so can prevent rust and other damages to the exterior of your vehicle.

Replace wipers

We tend to use the windshield wipers a lot over the winter, so it is usually a good idea to check how they’re doing come Springtime. If your car’s wiper blades or bent, cracked or otherwise damaged, go ahead and replace them now.

Check under the hood

Don’t neglect under the hood! It is common for debris and grime to accumulate under the hood around the engine. A quick clean with a special cleaner can ensure your engine stays in good shape so nothing gets blocked or potentially damaged.

If you’d like to get a seasonal service job performed for your vehicle, bring it here to Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet in Newton, NC, and we’ll do the rest. We will make spring cleaning your car as easy as it can be.

Four-Wheel Drive vs All-Wheel Drive

Four-Wheel Drive vs All-Wheel Drive

What’s The Difference Between Four-Wheel Drive vs All-Wheel Drive?

A capable vehicle is one that can withstand the elements, even when they threaten to make driving difficult. The automotive industry has developed several systems to deal with slick roadways, but which one is right for you? Here’s a quick guide on four-wheel drive vs all-wheel drive from us here at Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet in Newton, NC.

Four-Wheel Drive vs All-Wheel Drive

Four-wheel drive systems split the torque evenly between the front and rear axles. While this provides more traction, a truck can’t be driven safely on dry pavement. As a result, four-wheel drive is primarily used when off-roading or driving through snow. Drivers can revert their vehicle to two-wheel drive, which earns better fuel economy, by turning the four-wheel drive system off.

All-wheel drive systems send torque to the wheel with the least amount of grip, also known as the path of least resistance. Since the system does this automatically, all-wheel drive vehicles are great for all road surfaces. All-wheel drive systems cannot be turned off. As a result, vehicles equipped with the system tend to earn lower fuel economies.

Which One is Right for You?

Drivers in cold or varying climates year round are best off with an All-Wheel drive system. Those who value fuel economy and don’t always need maximum traction will be better off with a four-wheel drive system.
