Living in a House While Renovating

Living in a House While Renovating

Having recently undergone a remodeling and renovation ourselves, we speak from experience when we say it isn’t easy. While the end result in an attractive, modern look and streamlined interior, being present throughout the process could be stressful at times. Live and learn, as they say!

We have a few tips for living in a house while renovating drawn from our personal experience here at Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet.

  • Know the Schedule It’s incredibly important to know the construction schedule if you plan on living in your house throughout the renovation. Make sure to deactivate your security system during those hours. Knowing the schedule ahead of time will also offer more privacy.
  • Contain Kids and Pets Kids and pets tend to wander, and that generally doesn’t end well in construction areas. Do your best to keep your wandering loved ones contained. In addition to a potential accident, other problems could include construction delays and extra stress that you simply don’t need.
  • Wear Shoes A construction site is a hot bed of fallen nails, scattered screws, and wily wood chippings. Wearing shoes is pertinent to protecting your feet, even if you are not walking through the construction area constantly. It only takes one pierced foot and a trip to the emergency room to make you wonder if the renovation will be worth it.

Keeping Your New Year’s Resolutions

Happy New Year 2017 - Newton, NC

As you probably know, making New Year’s resolutions is easy. You close your eyes and dream of a better you and it seems so real, so possible. Then comes the hard part. Here are a few tips to help you keep your New Year’s resolutions.

Find Your People

Whether it’s just a friend or a group you found on meetup.com, the support of others can make all the difference in keeping your New Year’s resolutions. For instance, if you’ve made a resolution to lose weight, find a gym buddy! It’s someone to understand your pain and share in your triumphs.

Know Your Triggers

Everyone is different, even when they are pursuing the same goals. That’s why it’s important to know triggers that are unique to you. These are environmental factors that encourage you to backslide. Say you have made a resolution to quit smoking. If drinking alcohol is a trigger, perhaps you need to lay off the booze until you’ve overcome your nicotine cravings.

Accept Your Imperfection

The fact of the matter is that you will likely trip on your way to keeping your resolutions. It gets a lot easier once you accept this fact. The danger of maintaining impossible standards is that an occasional indulgence or misstep can become an excuse to give up altogether. Stay in touch with the bigger picture.

New 2018 Corvette ZR1 Design Spotted: Sleek, Sporty & Modern

2018 Corvette ZR1 design

Something Is Staring At Us

The new 2018 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 was recently spotted—and it’s better than ever. This sleek and sporty model looks like something straight off the track, with a massive rear wing, sloping contours, large intake, a quad exhaust, and more. You won’t be able to take your eyes off this stunning model.

According to Car and Driver, the new 2018 Corvette ZR1 design includes little details you won’t find elsewhere, including blue-painted opposed-piston brake calipers, a massive front-fascia intercooler air intake system, and an adjustable rear airfoil. An aluminum sub frame is bound to be light, especially thanks to space-age materials. A composite body also helps to cut some weight, and a two-seat interior is ideal for this new sports car.

“With the Viper’s demise imminent, the Corvette soon will be one of only two U.S.-built sports cars,” said editor Don Sherman in an earlier piece about the Corvette. “The new ZR1 will toast seven generations of classic American V-8 performance and value.”

Under the hood will likely be a tuned V8 engine with up to 750 horsepower—enough to thrill any driver. Although there is little news on official specs and other features, the new Corvette ZR1 is bound to set new standards in the industry. We can’t wait to see it in action.

Let us know what you think about the new Corvette, and stop by Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet near Hickory, NC, and let us know!

Fall Driving Locations: North Carolina Country Roads

Fallen Roads Around North Carolina

Fall is the perfect time to go for a ride in North Carolina. That’s why we’ve posted a list of fall driving locations in the area, specifically country roads you won’t want to leave. The open road, crisp air, and autumn foliage are the perfect way to relax on a fall day.

According to OnlyInYourState, every North Carolinian loves to visit Blue Ridge Parkway more than any other location when it comes to driving. This 469-mile strip of road has it all: mountain views, waterfalls, lakes, and steep drops. Thanks to large overhangs, you will have the perfect vantage to see acres and acres of bright leaves as they change from bright green to dark earth tones.

Another great drive is the Whitewater Way, which gets its name from the falls. As the highest waterfall east of the Rockies, this location is a must-see place for any driver. The Whitewater Way can be found on Highway 281 between Sapphire and the South Carolina border. You can also stop by the Gorges State Park or the Nantahala National Forest as well.

Hanging Rock and Pisgah Loop Scenic Byways are also great for driving. Hanging Rock is a winding road that goes straight through the Sauratown mountain chain, while the Pisgah Loop takes you along an ancient forest. Running parallel to the Blue Ridge Parkway at times, it’s the perfect place to stop by for some peaceful hiking.

Other great locations include Waterfall Byway, Meteor Lake, Mount Mitchell Scenic Byway, Tail of the Dragon, Upper Yadkin Way, and the Outer Banks Scenic Byway. You’ll learn to love driving again once you stop by these beautiful fall driving locations. Chevy’s 238-Mile Promise

238-Mile promise

The Doors Are Open

Chevy has made a promise – a 238-Mile promise. So, what does this mean? Well, with the all-new Chevy Bolt, it means you’ll be going far.

Chevy has promised that the 2017 Chevrolet Volt EV will have a 238-mile range on a full charge. This is groundbreaking for not just the Chevy Bolt, but for electric cars everywhere.

Fully electric cars have gained popularity over the last years, partly because of its money-saving efficiency and partly because of its low environmental impact. That’s why Chevy has devoted so much to making the Chevy Bolt the ideal electric car.

GM hopes to not only boost the popularity of this car, but raise the standard of electric cars themselves. The Chevy Bolt will be unique because unlike most other EV’s on the market, it will have a range of over 200 miles when fully charged, and it’ll come in at a reasonable MSRP of $37,000. And that’s before the $7,500 federal tax rebate.

“If you look at the reason why people didn’t buy electrified or pure electric vehicles, it was really around either the cost or price range, or in some cases utility. We think with the Bolt we have all of those covered and more,” said Mark Reuss, GM executive vice president of global product development.

The 2017 Chevy Bolt is sure to impress. Are you excited for it? Let all of us know at Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet near Charlotte, NC today!

Dale Earnhardt Statue

Dale Earnhardt Statue

A Fitting Tribute

Just about everyone knows the name “Dale Earnhardt.” One of the most notable race car drivers of all time, Earnhardt set an abundance of records and worked his way into all of our hearts. In Kannapolis, North Carolina, you’ll be able to find a touching tribute to him: a Dale Earnhardt statue.

One of the top NASCAR drivers of all time, Earnhardt died doing what he loved: racing. In February 2001, he was competing in the infamous Daytona 500 when his car was bumped from behind, causing him to crash into a wall head-on. His son, Dale Earnhardt Jr., finished second in the race. Tragically, Earnhardt Sr. was brought to Halifax Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

His legacy, however, has not died. You can visit his statue in nearby Kannapolis, North Carolina to pay him tribute! Earnhardt was referred to as the “working man’s” driver and his statue stands tall in that nickname, donning a button-down with rolled-up sleeves, a pair of jeans, and cowboy boots.

Over his career, Earnhardt won 76 races and 7 Winston Cup Championships, making him one of NASCAR’s greatest drivers. His “working man” nickname was given to him because of his laid-back attitude and relatability to fans.

So if you’re an Earnhardt fan, check out the Dale Earnhardt statue in his hometown of Kannapolis, and stop by The Intimidator’s actual dealership in Newton, NC at Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet.
