The Benefits of Owning a Truck

benefits of owning a truck

The Truck With A Bow Tie Is Only One You Can Count On

For some people, it’s important to have a vehicle that can haul and tow everything you need. If you’re one of those people, than a pickup truck is the vehicle you need. There are a number of benefits of owning a truck. Here are the top three:

Haul as much as you need. You can finally get that boat you always wanted. Trucks are specially designed to haul loads. That means strong engines with lots of torque, powerful brakes and oftentimes special features like the Tow/Haul Mode on the Chevrolet Silverado. If hauling seems intimidating, know that a good truck makes it easy.

Sedan-like comfort in a heavy duty vehicle. Trucks are just as comfortable as cars these days. If you haven’t spent time in the cab of a modern truck, you won’t understand how truck cabs are designed to be just as comfortable, spacious, and accommodating as a cabin you’d find on a car. Of course, trucks come in all varieties but just know that if you want the best infotainment system and comfortable seats, you can get them.

Be as versatile as you want. A truck isn’t just a truck. Look at the Chevrolet Colorado, the 2015 Motor Trend Truck of the Year. The Colorado is designed to be versatile. It may not be a family car, but that doesn’t mean the Colorado can’t accommodate your family. You may not need or want a heavy duty truck and the Colorado is sized perfectly for both work and play.

In the end, it’s all about looking at your own needs and putting them up against what a good, solid truck can offer to see all the benefits of owning a truck.

If you want to see more benefits of owning a truck, then race to Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet in Newton, NC to test drive as many as you’d like!

Chevrolet Silverado Custom Sport Edition Offers Versatility for All

While the Chevrolet Silverado is currently considered one of the most appealing trucks in its segment, the American carmaker has decided to make the pickup even better with an all-new Custom Sport package. The Chevrolet Silverado Custom Sport Edition adds a touch of sophistication, along with plenty of features, to pay homage to one of the most iconic pickups in Chevrolet’s history.

“The Custom Sport special edition was inspired by Chevy Custom Sport Trucks of the late 1960s,” said Sandor Piszar, Chevrolet Trucks marketing director. “Those CST models added a touch of elegance to a great all-around truck, just like the Custom Sport package for the new Silverado.”

The package offers body-colored front and rear bumpers, a body-colored grille surround, and a chrome-accented black grille. 20-inch chrome wheels add a touch of elegance, along with chrome door handles and mirror caps, and chrome body-side moldings.

Dealers will begin taking orders for the Chevrolet Silverado Custom Sport Edition this month, with the package adding anywhere from $1,950 to $2,950 to the Silverado’s price. Stop in to Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet today to see what this package has to offer!

How Chevy “Technology and Stuff” Mishap Turned into an Opportunity

By now you’ve likely heard about the Chevy “technology and stuff” mishap. In case you missed it, here’s a quick recap: during the presentation of the World Series MVP award a couple of weeks ago, Chevrolet spokesman Rikk Wilde stumbled over his lines. While presenting the features of the new Chevrolet Silverado, Wilde said the truck “combines class winning and leading, um, you know, technology and stuff.”

These things happen, but when it happens on national television in front of a live audience, a little stumble can feel painfully awkward. Instead of pretending it didn’t happen, Chevy embraced the error that any human could have made, and capitalized on the opportunity to poke a little fun at itself via social media. The result? Chevy turned the blunder into an opportunity to relate with its audience.

While this isn’t the sort of publicity any company hopes or plans for, Chevy’s marketing team was able to turn embarrassing into funny, with a simple tweet. The team posted a picture of the Silverado along with this: “Ya know … class leading technology and stuff.” According to forbes.com, it only took a few minutes for #technologyandstuff and #chevyguy to start tending across multiple social media platforms.

After noticing such a positive and playful response, the automaker went so far as to update their television commercial to say, “you know you want a truck … and stuff.”

This is a prime example of the power of opportunity, quick thinking, and a sense of humor.

So, are you ready to test drive a Silverado… and stuff? Stop by Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet today to see all that technology… and stuff, for yourself. Ok, we’re done now.

Silverado Sales Soar in Part to New EcoTec3 V6 Engine

The 2014 Silverado is experiencing a big increase in market share; the Silverado currently accounts for 20 percent of light-duty pickup truck sales. That number is up from the 5 percent share of the market the previous model had earned. So what’s driving the 2014 Silverado’s newfound success? Well, that would be the brand new EcoTec3 V6 engine.

A Chevrolet press release listed five different ways the Silverado’s new V6 engine sets the truck apart from the competition. Here at Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet, we can sum up the list in just a few words: continued excellence and improved efficiency. The new engine is a 4.3L EcoTec3 V6, built to fit perfectly under the hood of a pickup. And it lives up to the challenge splendidly—coaxing 285 horsepower, 305 lb-ft. of torque, and 7,600 lbs of available towing out of the Silverado.

The new EcoTec3 V6 is also intended to save you money when it comes to filling up your tank. The engine offers direct fuel injection, continuously variable valve timing, and an Active Fuel Management program, all of which work to achieve maximum efficiency out of your Silverado. Chevrolet’s attention to detail and use of advanced technology leads the Silverado to a 20 mpg combined rating, which makes it more than good enough to earn a best in its class distinction. At the end of the day, that’s the real story: the EcoTec3 V6 engine helps put the 2014 Silverado in a class all its own.

SEMA: Chevrolet Accessories Unveiled

The eve of the SEMA Show was stock full of Chevrolet truck and SUV concepts. This array of beauty and genius was enough to knock our socks off.

Chevrolet reintroduced the Silverado Firefighter Volunteer and Black Ops concepts, along with revealing a few new faces. The most notable new faces were the performance-oriented Silverado Cheyenne, the Brad Paisley Signature Silverado, and the ultra-tough Silverado HD Dually tow vehicle.

Each concept vehicle has its own strengths and style, but Chevy’s goal was not to laud the incredible towing capacity of the Dually or the performance of the Cheyenne. Instead the focus was placed on the flexibility of the one thing they all had in common: the Chevrolet Accessories that made each concept possible.

In order to further demonstrate the depth and breadth of the Chevrolet Accessories, Chevrolet is altering the same Silverado Z71 Crew Cab every day throughout the SEMA Show. This will allow the Z71 to adopt varying appearances such as luxury, sport, work-truck, or outdoor themes. It will also give us all a chance to play show and tell with Chevy.

The personalization factor offered by Chevrolet Accessories really makes it possible for you to make the all-new Silverado truly yours. There can never be any question among your friends who is getting the better deal if you pick up a Silverado. Come in to Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet to pick out your very own pick-up.

Chevy Silverados Endure 12.5 Million Miles of Durability Testing

How much can your truck handle?

Chevy makes sure that its customers never have to find out the hard way by putting all of their new Silverados through 12.5 million miles of durability testing before shipping them out to the dealerships.

2014 Chevy SilveradoThe all-new full-size pickup truck has completed more than 4 million miles of combined durability testing in the toughest environments, including in the blazing desert of Yuma, AZ, in the freezing cold of Kapuskasing, Ontario, and at the outdoor “torture tests” of the GM Proving Grounds in Milford, MI. Another fleet of test vehicles were also trialed for more than 8.2 real-world miles, bringing the number up to 12.5 million miles of durability testing.

The trucks weren’t tested empty, either. Most of them were loaded to gross vehicle weight, something that customers rarely need to do, to ensure that they could endure in even the most demanding situations.

Find out for yourself just how tough is the all-new Chevy Silverado with a test drive at the Earnhardt Chevy dealership.
