Chevrolet SEMA Lineup is Performance-Inspired

The Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show in Las Vegas is one of the most interesting car shows of the year. While you won’t see many new models debut, you will see some amazing customizations.

This year, the Chevrolet SEMA lineup is performance-inspired and features customized versions of the SS Sport, Sonic, Impala, and Cruze.

“Chevrolet’s 2015 passenger car lineup is one of the strongest and most competitive in the industry, offering customers a wide range of great-looking, great-driving and well-connected choices,” said Paul Edwards, vice president, Chevrolet Marketing, in a statement. “They’re personal cars, too, and these concepts suggest possibilities of how to amplify Chevrolet’s heritage of performance and fun-to-drive spirit to make them even more personal.”

The custom cars on display will show many accessories that are currently available from Chevrolet dealers and a few that are being considered for production.

While the small Chevrolet Cruze may seem like an unlikely candidate for a performance car, just check out what Chevrolet engineers can do. For SEMA, engineers gave the Cruze the RS Plus treatment. With this available package, it adds rocker molding, a rear spoiler, unique fascias, and flog lamps. Inside, a sporty instrument cluster adds chrome accent rings and opaque cluster bezels with ice blue backlighting.

The custom package on display at the show will include a unique Wildfire Metallic paint job, unique lower body molding, and a custom rear spoiler.

Surprising Features in the 2014 Chevrolet Impala

With technology nowadays, we don’t usually know absolutely every feature that our phones, computer, or even TVs have. It seems that we’re always finding out about some cool feature long after we’ve gotten the upgraded model. The same is often true of our cars. Today, cars have more technology than ever before, making it incredibly easy to stay connected. We understand that not everyone reads the owner’s manual from cover to cover, so we’ve dug into some cool features that you can find in your 2014 Chevrolet Impala.

2014 Chevy Impala Specifications

Here are just a few of the features you can find in your Impala that you’re going to wish you had known about long ago.

  1. You can connect multiple USB devices. We’re betting you’ve discovered all three USB ports by now. Have you figured out that once those devices are plugged in, the MyMedia system pulls the media and combines the libraries from all devices into one playlist?  You can find two USB ports in the center console and one behind the retractable radio screen. Then all you have to do is push the MyMedia button until you get to the MyMedia input.
  2. Valet mode. Lock your car down using the Valet mode. You have to create a security code within the settings menu, which when used will activate a secure mode. This will let enable you to secure the multimedia and navigation system, steering-wheel controls, in-dash retractable storage compartment, and private information such as a home address or contacts. So next time you go out for a night on the town, you don’t have to worry about what the valet might find scouting around because they won’t be able to access a single thing.
  3. Link heated and ventilated seats to remote start. In the settings menu, you’ll find that you can link your heated and ventilated seats to your remote start. So the next time you start your car from the warmth of your house, you’ll find that your seat will be nice and warm too.

Start/Stop Technology Is Standard for 2015 Impala

With gas prices showing no signs of declining back to the wonderful $2 mark it was less than a decade ago, everyone is looking for ways to save on gas. Chevrolet has found the perfect way to help you do just that. The 2015 Impala will have start/stop technology come as a standard feature on all models.

What does this technology do for you? It automatically shuts down your car’s engine whenever you are stopped at a stop light, stop sign, or in other select driving situations. For those of you who know someone who owns a new model Chevy Malibu with it, you can ask them how much they love this feature. The Malibu experiences a 14% in city fuel economy with the start/stop technology.

Adding the start/stop as a standard feature will be a first for Chevy and the Impala is the lucky first car to enter that category. With the added technology, the 2015 Impala’s efficiency should increase from previous models by a minimum of 5%.

Of course it’s no secret why the technology was added. “Stop/start system customer research indicates they want the engine to start up as quickly and smoothly as possible after a stop,” said Mark Meyers, Chevrolet Global Vehicle Performance manager. This means you’re going to get an incredibly user friendly car when you pick up the new Impala.

The biggest decision you’re going to have to make when you come in to Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet to pick up the 2015 model is what color you want.

Best Car and Truck of 2014 are….the Chevrolet Impala and Silverado

Cars.com has announced its winners of the Best Car and Best Truck of 2014: the Chevrolet Impala sedan and the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 full-size pickup.

After careful deliberation and examination of the vehicles’ attention to innovation, quality, and value, both awards were presented at the North American International Auto Show. The Impala and Silverado were chosen from five other nominees in their respective categories.

The Impala received praise for its high-quality materials, excellent MyLink multimedia system, updated styling, and efficient powertrains, while the Silverado received high marks for its chassis strength, redesigned interior, and—once again—MyLink.

“Winning just one of these awards for an automaker is pretty tough, given the high number of quality cars and trucks that debut each year,” said Patrick Olsen, editor-in-chief of Cars.com. “For Chevrolet to grab both awards shows the depth of their ability to build desirable vehicles.”
