The Dale Trail in Kannapolis, NC

The Dale Trail

Take The Family Around The Dale Trail

Kannapolis, North Carolina, is the birthplace of legendary NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt and the home of the Dale Trail. The Dale Trail is a tour of Kannapolis landmarks that relate to Earnhardt’s life and NASCAR career.

The trail starts at Dale Earnhardt Boulevard, a street named for Earnhardt, and continues to the neighborhood where he grew up. Called Car Town, the neighborhood points out spots where Earnhardt learned to drive. Here you can learn about how Dale Earnhardt got his start in racing and how he was influenced by his father, Ralph Earnhardt, also a racing legend.

The Dale Trail takes you past Ralph Earnhardt’s gravestone in the Centergrove Lutheran Cemetery and the garage where Ralph learned to fix cars. Then you’ll go to Dale Earnhardt Plaza in downtown Kannapolis, where a massive statue of Dale Earnhardt stands next to a monument on which Dale fans wrote inscriptions.

The Curb Motorsports Museum and Dale Earnhardt Inc. are both a dream come true for NASCAR fans and packed with exhibits and memorabilia. If you’re still looking for more after all these stops, drive north to Richard Childress Racing for even more Earnhardt exhibits and a look into the shop for Dale’s team and car.

A visit to Kannapolis is a must for any Earnhardt or NASCAR fan! And for some extra fun, come to the Dale’s dealership, Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet, in Newton, NC. We have Earnhardt trivia on out site, as well!

Chevrolet Silverado Custom Sport Edition Offers Versatility for All

While the Chevrolet Silverado is currently considered one of the most appealing trucks in its segment, the American carmaker has decided to make the pickup even better with an all-new Custom Sport package. The Chevrolet Silverado Custom Sport Edition adds a touch of sophistication, along with plenty of features, to pay homage to one of the most iconic pickups in Chevrolet’s history.

“The Custom Sport special edition was inspired by Chevy Custom Sport Trucks of the late 1960s,” said Sandor Piszar, Chevrolet Trucks marketing director. “Those CST models added a touch of elegance to a great all-around truck, just like the Custom Sport package for the new Silverado.”

The package offers body-colored front and rear bumpers, a body-colored grille surround, and a chrome-accented black grille. 20-inch chrome wheels add a touch of elegance, along with chrome door handles and mirror caps, and chrome body-side moldings.

Dealers will begin taking orders for the Chevrolet Silverado Custom Sport Edition this month, with the package adding anywhere from $1,950 to $2,950 to the Silverado’s price. Stop in to Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet today to see what this package has to offer!

Our List of Best Car-Cleaning Products

We are willing to bet you’ve got this whole car-cleaning thing down to a science. What if we told you there are some products out there that will change your attitude about cleaning your car altogether? Prepare for an entirely new definition of clean – here are is our list of best car-cleaning products for getting the job done right.

First of all, never use household cleaning agents like hand soap, dishwashing detergent, or glass cleaner on the paint – these aren’t formulated for use on cars, and can break down or even strip the protective wax.

All of our favorites can be found on Amazon, so we’ve linked to each one below. Happy car washing!

The mitt. Really, any mitt will do, as long as you find microfiber or lamb’s wool. Other materials may scratch your car or leave behind fibbers.

The brush. Consider a long-arm, adjustable brush from reaching difficult areas, especially on a truck or SUV. This particular one hooks up to your hose and provides and on-off switch allowing you to control the water. Make sure the brush has soft bristles to ensure a gentle wash.

The wash. Your car wash should easily lift dirt, lather well, and leave a spotless, shiny finish. The less you have to use to accomplish these goals, the better! Concentrated formulas tend to last longer and work well.

The wheel cleaner. Find a cleaner that will dissolve dirt, grime, and brake dust. Your wheel cleaner should be safe on painted, anodized, and clear coated wheels. This particular version turns red as it breaks down dirt and grime, which is incredibly satisfying.

The grit guard.  Never heard of it? The grit guard is often overlooked, but well-worth spending a few bucks on. Placed at the bottom of your bucket, the grit guard catches dirt and debris from your mitt or sponge, and keeps it safely locked away in the bottom of the bucket. Your soapy water will stay cleaner for longer.

Chevy Set to Reach 5 Million Sales

In 2012, Chevy sold 4.95 million cars worldwide and this year they are on track to sell even more. There are a few months left for Chevrolet to set a record-breaking 5 million cars. It would be the first time in GM’s 100-year history.

Although everyone here in the states loves the Chevy brand, approximately 65% of the automaker’s sales have come from foreign markets. Alan Batey, the global head of Chevrolet, says, “When I look out and think about where we need to take the brand, the Middle East is a significant part of that opportunity.” We’ll just chalk that one up to other countries not being able to resist the American experience of true power. Not that we can blame them any; we love the power too.

Besides, the Middle East is proving itself to be one GM’s most promising markets. The area generated $5 billion of business in 2012 and is continuing to grow annually at a rate of nearly 5%. Because Chevrolet is such a great brand to own and demand is so high, the political unrest in the region doesn’t seem to be having much effect on sales. Other top growth markets are the United States, China, Russia, Mexico, and Brazil.

We continue to stock our dealership with a variety of vehicles from the Chevy family. Isn’t it about time you chipped in and started stocking your own garage with a few pieces from our trophy case of cars?

The Right Back-to-School Car for You

Let’s face it, college is extremely expensive and costs are only going to go up. Those textbooks are a must-have and there’s no such thing as buying them semesters in advance. Thankfully, there is one thing you can buy in advance and have it last for your entire college career, a new (or used) car.

Everyone needs a way to get to back to school, even if you’re not exactly looking forward to it. Once you’re actually back on campus, you’re going to want to have a way to get away for a little while here and there. Or you might even want to go home for a weekend or two.

2013 Chevy Sonic is the perfect Back-to-School carKelley Blue Book has recently released its 2013 Top New Cars for Students list, which only includes vehicles priced under $20,000. The safety, versatility, style, fuel economy, and overall value were taken into consideration to determine the list. Jack Nerad, executive editorial director for Kelley Blue Book’s KBB.com, says,  “Parents and students alike will be surprised at the variety of amenity-laden, affordable new cars available on our 10 Best Back-to-School Cars list for 2013.”

We’re not surprised the 2013 Chevy Sonic made the list. The 2013 Sonic has a five-star NHTSA safety rating and the 1.4L turbo engine on the LT and LTZ models can get up to an estimated 40 mpg highway. Considering the Sonic has a starting MSRP at less than $15,000, you know you’re getting a quality car at a great value. Besides, how else are you going to get home?
