Lyft Will Offer New Chevy Bolt Through Express Drive Program

Express Drive program

The Chevy Bolt Is On It’s Way

In a modern world that relies increasingly on smartphone apps and social media to streamline our daily routine, auto makers sometimes need to take a leap into the realm of technology in order to stay one step ahead of the competition. That’s why General Motors is partnering up with the Lyft ridesharing app in order to draw attention to the upcoming all-electric 2017 Chevrolet Bolt. The Bolt will be available to Lyft drivers through the app’s new Express Drive program.

There are benefits to this for both drivers and passengers. Express Drive allows Lyft drivers to rent a vehicle for free or for a significantly reduced cost to use while they’re on the job, reducing the amount of gas they use in the process. Driver and rider alike will get exposed to Chevy’s new Bolt, which is essentially free advertising for GM. Plus, the 2017 Bolt will serve as an environmentally-friendly option for Lyft drivers who want to reduce emissions while they’re on the road.

The presence of the Chevy Bolt as a rental option in the Express Drive program is only the first step in the auto maker’s long-term vision for the partnership. Ideally, the eventual goal is for General Motors to develop a network of autonomous vehicles that will be able to shuttle Lyft customers without a driver. However, as self-driving tech is still in development, that aspiration is still a few years out of sight.

GM Earns Title as Top-Selling Auto Brand in 2015

Top-Selling Auto Brand in 2015

Steer Towards Chevy

2015 was a big year for the automotive industry, both in the United States and around the globe. Total sales of automobiles reached record highs, as more cars were sold last year than ever before. The automaker leading the charge in the ongoing rebound of the American automotive market was General Motors.

As top dog, General Motors was the top-selling auto brand in 2015 in North America, South America, and China. The automaker 3.6 million vehicles in North America and China each, proving that GM is still on the rise.

“GM continued to grow in 2015 as our focus on the customer and successful new vehicle launches more than offset the challenging conditions in South America and the curtailment of our presence in certain markets such as Russia,” said GM President Dan Ammann.

The GM brand with the biggest success story in 2015 was Chevrolet, which continued to be the best-selling badge in GM’s portfolio year after year. In fact, Chevy’s total sales increased 5% in 2015, exceeding 2.1 million and greatly contributing to the stunning 9.8 million vehicles sold by GM around the globe last year.

Despite those high numbers, each one of those vehicles were made with care and quality, just like the Chevy models we’re selling at Dale Earnhardt Chevy in 2016.

Chevrolet Wins 2016 Car and Truck of the Year Awards from Motor Trend

truck of the year

Driving Off Into the Sunset

Of course, you are the only critic that really matters when it comes to your car, but knowing that other people love it too, can be extra rewarding. Recently, Motor Trend gave Chevrolet both the 2016 Car of the Year award and the 2016 Truck of the Year award, with the recipients being the all-new Chevrolet Camaro and the Chevrolet Colorado equipped with the new turbo-diesel engine.

This is the second year in a row the Colorado has earned this coveted prize. Now, with the available diesel engine, the Colorado is the most fuel-efficient pickup in the United States with an EPA-estimated 31 mpg on the highway for two-wheel drive models. It also boasts the highest trailering capacity in its segment—up to 7,700 pounds when properly equipped.

As for the Camaro, Motor Trend editors were impressed with its light weight, which lends to its “world-class sports car performance and dynamics.”

With the all-new sixth-generation Camaro, buyers have six powertrain combinations to choose from, including the standard 2.0-liter Turbo, an all-new 3.6-liter V6, and a 455-horsepower 6.2-liter V8. Each can be had with either a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic transmission.

If you’re looking for a new sports car or truck, stop by Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet today and take a look at either of these two award-winning options.

GM Wont Stop Producing GM Diesel Engines Because of VW

GM Diesel Engines

Getting Work Done Efficiently

General Motors Executive Vice President Mark Reuss has gone on record stating that he wouldn’t let the Volkswagen diesel emissions scandal get in the way of the company’s plan for a new line of efficient-yet-powerful GM diesel engines.

“No way,” he said in response to a question about cancelling the upcoming diesel-powered Chevrolet Cruze. “The Cruze Diesel is too good not to do it.”

Though Volkswagen was the only automaker found to have been cheating in diesel emissions tests, it did bring to light the need for more stringent testing methods. This has put some automakers on the back foot, but GM and Chevrolet are taking it in stride. The 2016 Chevrolet Cruze Diesel, along with other diesel-powered models, is still a go with no foreseeable delays.

The 2016 Chevrolet Colorado Duramax, which is slated for launch next year at Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet in Newton, NC, will be among the first to face the EPA’s new testing methodology, even for diesel trucks—but again, the automaker isn’t fazed.

2016 Chevy Camaro Reviews, Praise, & Improved Performance

2016 Chevy Camaro

The Best Has Yet To Come

Been eyeing a 2016 Chevrolet Camaro for a while but wondering how it actually performs? Well, wait no more, because Camaro First Drive reviews are finally out and let’s just say that the reasons to buy this car seem to be piling on faster than ever—and we’re not talking about its smoldering new good looks.

The 2016 Chevy Camaro is stiffer, smaller, and stronger than the outgoing model. The steering feels crisp and well-weighted, with good visibility out of the cabin and a refined interior to entertain your eyes when you’re not looking at the road. As expected, the car goes. The engine and transmission are more refined and ferocious than ever, yet the ride is still smooth and quiet, though the latter is a matter of configuration, as you can adjust resonators for more or less noise.

The best improvement is the effect the stiffer chassis and reduced unsprung mass has had on its cornering ability. The 2016 Chevy Camaro, especially when equipped with performance tires, is surprisingly responsive and quick to transition from left to right corners, even handling bumps in the process with ease.

It’s the best Chevy Camaro yet, and we can’t wait for you to check it out at Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet in Newton, NC!
