The Benefits of Owning a Truck

benefits of owning a truck

The Truck With A Bow Tie Is Only One You Can Count On

For some people, it’s important to have a vehicle that can haul and tow everything you need. If you’re one of those people, than a pickup truck is the vehicle you need. There are a number of benefits of owning a truck. Here are the top three:

Haul as much as you need. You can finally get that boat you always wanted. Trucks are specially designed to haul loads. That means strong engines with lots of torque, powerful brakes and oftentimes special features like the Tow/Haul Mode on the Chevrolet Silverado. If hauling seems intimidating, know that a good truck makes it easy.

Sedan-like comfort in a heavy duty vehicle. Trucks are just as comfortable as cars these days. If you haven’t spent time in the cab of a modern truck, you won’t understand how truck cabs are designed to be just as comfortable, spacious, and accommodating as a cabin you’d find on a car. Of course, trucks come in all varieties but just know that if you want the best infotainment system and comfortable seats, you can get them.

Be as versatile as you want. A truck isn’t just a truck. Look at the Chevrolet Colorado, the 2015 Motor Trend Truck of the Year. The Colorado is designed to be versatile. It may not be a family car, but that doesn’t mean the Colorado can’t accommodate your family. You may not need or want a heavy duty truck and the Colorado is sized perfectly for both work and play.

In the end, it’s all about looking at your own needs and putting them up against what a good, solid truck can offer to see all the benefits of owning a truck.

If you want to see more benefits of owning a truck, then race to Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet in Newton, NC to test drive as many as you’d like!

Chevy G80 Locking Rear Differential Keeps You Moving Forward

Chevy G80 Locking Rear Differential

Have you ever wondered what keeps Chevy trucks on the road and always moving forward? There’s a simple answer: the Chevy G80 locking rear differential. The technology has been a staple in Chevy trucks for over 40 years.

With the automatic locking rear axle, Chevy trucks are able to maintain traction in any kind of weather or on any terrain. If one wheel starts to spin, the G80 rear axle will automatically lock and allow both rear wheels to continue propelling the truck.

Jeff Luke, executive chief engineer said, “The G80 locking axle provides a greater traction advantage than limited-slip differentials in most situations, while its automatic engagement requires no driver involvement, unlike some competitors’ electronic lockers, which require driver interaction.”

Chevy trucks allow you to go about your business anywhere at any time without any doubts in your mind. Come visit us at Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet to test-drive the new Chevy truck lineup.

The 2015 Silverado Custom Features: Strong and Simple

Chevy is getting back to the basics with the new 2015 Silverado Custom. This new package offers drivers a chance to experience the best in pickup engineering, with simple styling and high-performance technology.2015 Silverado Custom features

According to Chevy, the 2015 Silverado Custom features include alloy wheels, exterior chrome trim, Chevy MyLink, and Wi-Fi among other things. All of this will come in a double-cab, with an array of engine options. The standard will be the massive 5.3-liter EcoTec V8, capable of producing 355 hp and getting up to 23 mpg highway.

“The economic recovery has led to booming sales of high-end pickups like the Silverado High Country,” said Sandor Piszar, marketing director for Chevy Trucks. “But there are also millions of customers in the heart of the market who want a great looking, well-equipped truck at an affordable price. The Silverado Custom is a truck they can be proud to own and proud to drive.”

The Custom model is for pickup owners that are looking for durable trucks that last a long time. Not only is the new model incredibly tough thanks to high-strength steel, but it is also easy to maintain and inexpensive to repair. This truck is ideal for any hard-working owner.

Chevrolet Silverado Custom Sport Edition Offers Versatility for All

While the Chevrolet Silverado is currently considered one of the most appealing trucks in its segment, the American carmaker has decided to make the pickup even better with an all-new Custom Sport package. The Chevrolet Silverado Custom Sport Edition adds a touch of sophistication, along with plenty of features, to pay homage to one of the most iconic pickups in Chevrolet’s history.

“The Custom Sport special edition was inspired by Chevy Custom Sport Trucks of the late 1960s,” said Sandor Piszar, Chevrolet Trucks marketing director. “Those CST models added a touch of elegance to a great all-around truck, just like the Custom Sport package for the new Silverado.”

The package offers body-colored front and rear bumpers, a body-colored grille surround, and a chrome-accented black grille. 20-inch chrome wheels add a touch of elegance, along with chrome door handles and mirror caps, and chrome body-side moldings.

Dealers will begin taking orders for the Chevrolet Silverado Custom Sport Edition this month, with the package adding anywhere from $1,950 to $2,950 to the Silverado’s price. Stop in to Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet today to see what this package has to offer!

How Chevy “Technology and Stuff” Mishap Turned into an Opportunity

By now you’ve likely heard about the Chevy “technology and stuff” mishap. In case you missed it, here’s a quick recap: during the presentation of the World Series MVP award a couple of weeks ago, Chevrolet spokesman Rikk Wilde stumbled over his lines. While presenting the features of the new Chevrolet Silverado, Wilde said the truck “combines class winning and leading, um, you know, technology and stuff.”

These things happen, but when it happens on national television in front of a live audience, a little stumble can feel painfully awkward. Instead of pretending it didn’t happen, Chevy embraced the error that any human could have made, and capitalized on the opportunity to poke a little fun at itself via social media. The result? Chevy turned the blunder into an opportunity to relate with its audience.

While this isn’t the sort of publicity any company hopes or plans for, Chevy’s marketing team was able to turn embarrassing into funny, with a simple tweet. The team posted a picture of the Silverado along with this: “Ya know … class leading technology and stuff.” According to forbes.com, it only took a few minutes for #technologyandstuff and #chevyguy to start tending across multiple social media platforms.

After noticing such a positive and playful response, the automaker went so far as to update their television commercial to say, “you know you want a truck … and stuff.”

This is a prime example of the power of opportunity, quick thinking, and a sense of humor.

So, are you ready to test drive a Silverado… and stuff? Stop by Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet today to see all that technology… and stuff, for yourself. Ok, we’re done now.

Chevy Silverado 1500 Added to Police Lineup

When summer hits, we all tend to let loose a little. While you’re letting your hair down and doing a little extra traveling, keep an eye out for the newest addition to police vehicles, the Chevy Silverado 1500. Chevy’s full-size truck, equipped with the Special Services Vehicle (SSV) package, has joined the force.

2014 Silverado 1500 “Last year, the Silverado 1500 was awarded for its low cost of ownership, a key purchasing factor for municipalities and government agencies,” said Ed Peper, U.S. vice president for GM Fleet & Commercial. “The EcoTec3 engine provides the best fuel economy of any V-8 and still gives agencies the power and capability they need from a full-size pickup.”

The SSV truck offers police the same 5.3L engine EcoTec3 V8 with 355 horsepower as the 1500 Crew Cab it is based on. There is also an additional alternator and auxiliary battery to power all the lights and technology necessary for law enforcement officials.

In case you don’t already own a Silverado 1500, you can come in to Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet to check it out for yourself. We’ll be happy to take you for a test drive so you can experience the Silverado’s power firsthand.
