That’s why it comes as no surprise that Fernando Alonso’s 2019 Indianapolis 500 entry will be driven by Chevrolet’s 2.2-liter twin-turbocharged direct-injected V6 IndyCar engine.

Chevrolet Power

Chevy’s engine has gained a reputation for powering Indy 500 winners. Since its 2012 introduction to the IndyCar Series, it has powered four winners. “It will be a privilege to wear the Bowtie Brand at the 2019 Indy 500,” said Alonso. “Having Chevrolet power behind me means we’re putting ourselves in the best possible position to compete at the front.”

2-Time Formula 1 Champ

Alonso is a two-time Formula 1 champion, winning in 2005 and 2006. He’s currently in the all-time sixth place driver with 32 victories and 97 podium finishes. He will be racing in the 2019 Indy 500 as a McLaren Racing entry, bringing both talent and passion to the track.

Can-Am Series

This isn’t the first time Chevrolet and McLaren have partnered up. In 1966, the two car-makers worked together in the Can-Am Series, winning more than 70 percent of the races over the next seven years. According to Chevrolet, the newest Silverado HD will be the most capable and the most advanced Silverado HD ever. It will come with the choice of two new powertrains. The first is an all-new gasoline engine, which will be mated with a six-speed transmission.

Duramax Turbo-Diesel V8 Engine

For diesel fans, the Duramax Turbo-Diesel V8 engine is an attractive option to increase 2020 Chevrolet Silverado HD capability even more. It comes mated to an all-new Allison 10-speed transmission and puts out an outstanding 910 lb-ft of torque. On the outside, the 2020 Silverado HD will put forward a bold look, reflecting its work horse roots. Its masculine silhouette will differentiate it from its light-duty sibling, while also adding an additional three inches of legroom and a taller seating position.

“We know the needs and priorities of heavy-duty customers are different than those of either light-duty or medium-duty customers,” said Jaclyn McQuaid, chief engineer for the Silverado HD. “As such, we built a heavy-duty truck tailor-made for them that has more differentiation than ever before from light-duty models, offers advanced towing technologies to improve towing confidence, and includes new features such as the integrated Bedstep, which makes it easier to access the bed while pulling a fifth-wheel trailer.”
