Big news in the green energy and auto world! Chevrolet has made their first appearance on Interbrand’s 2014 Best Global Green Brands Report. The list is determined by the market perception of the brand and actual environmental performance of the company and its products. Since Interbrand is considered the best place in the world for brand consultancy, this is just as big of a deal as we’re making it out to be.
Jez Frampton, Interbrand’s global CEO, was very complimentary of Chevrolet and their results in the study that lead to the list being created. The recent news release from Interbrand reflected Frampton’s thoughts, “The company is not only actively demonstrating its environmental commitment; it’s communicating those efforts in an authentic way that resonates with customers.”
Chevy has a full line of eco-friendly vehicles over the last several years. We’ve really seen the biggest impact on the small, compact, and mini car segments come from the Cruze. Since its release in 2010, Chevy has seen its share in the three segments triple.
It’s not something any of us are complaining about. With Chevrolet’s continued success in the green industry, the company has been committing quite of a bit of time and effort to expanding their green reach globally. They’ve invested time into the research and development of renewable energy, landfill-free initiatives, a carbon-reduction initiative, and reinvesting in clean-energy technologies.
If you come into Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet today, we’d be happy to tell you more about why Chevrolet is a top global green brand. And of course, we’d love to take you for a test drive in any of the fuel-efficient cars on the lot.
No one ever expected Chevrolet to get involved with soccer. We’re not sure that anyone expected the involvement to go past the World Fútbol project they founded four years ago. And yes, Chevy is still funding the project. Most recently, Chevy has become sponsors of Manchester United (Chevy’s bowtie is on their jerseys) and now the automaker is going to have a Spanish-themed campaign to tie in with the World Cup in Brazil.
Spanish advertising is new for Chevy, but they have a great idea of how to connect with the Hispanic market. They have contracted with Hispanic agency Casanova Pendril to create six new Spanish TV spots under their global “Find New Roads” tag. The focus of these commercials will be family, culture, technology, and vehicle features. Univision will air the spots during soccer programming.
Chevy ads running during the World Cup will help the brand to gain their footing in the market and maintain their position well after the Cup is over. “Connecting with Hispanic consumers in a meaningful way is an imperative at Chevrolet,” said Paul Edwards, U.S. vice president, Chevrolet marketing, in a statement. “Global football is deeply rooted with Hispanics and Chevrolet and is the perfect environment to launch our new approach.”
Early viewings of the commercials have been done by Mediapost.com and they believe that Hispanic consumers will connect well with the pieces. Not to mention “The effort also furthers ‘What Do You #PlayFor’ social campaign that Chevrolet launched in March around the Red Devils game against Liverpool.”
Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet isn’t surprised that Chevy has put together quality work for their latest outreach into a new community. Our friends at the big bowtie have a history of being able to connect with residents based on their interests and passions and then develop those relationships well after the initial contact.
We’re all eager to see how the new Silverado and Equinox feature into the ads. If you want to take either vehicle for a test run, come on down to Earnhardt Chevy and we’ll help you make the connection.
Sometimes when a company makes claims, that’s all they ever end up being. With Chevrolet, when a claim is made, they back it up. What’s our proof? Chevrolet recently said that the 2015 Corvette Z06 was going to be the most track-capable, performance-oriented Corvette ever produced. Now we know it’s true.
The latest in Chevy’s storied history of muscle cars has a LT4 supercharged 6.2L V8 engine that the SAE has rated as maxing out at 650 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque. In case you need everyone at Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet to say it again, Chevy was spot on and has set a new standard to beat with the LT4 Small Block.
Steve Kiefer, vice president, GM Powertrain Engineering, said that “The engine also puts the new Corvette Z06 on par with the most powerful supercars offered in America, while delivering performance with impeccable manners that make it suitable for daily driving.”
It only seems like a lofty statement until you see the comparisons…then you realize just how honest Kiefer is being. The Z06 is able to pump out 90 more horsepower than the Porsche 911. The comparisons don’t start and stop there. The LT4 is more commanding, both in torque and horsepower, than the last previous Corvette’s LS7 engine.
The new Z06 is as close as many of us are going to get to a racecar, so we highly encourage you to come in and check it out as soon as possible.
2014 is looking like the perfect model year for the Chevrolet Traverse. The mid-size SUV has received quite a few awards already, including: Cars.com’s 2014 Best of the Year, Kelley Blue Book’s Best Family Car, and Edmunds.com’s Most Popular Large Crossover. As one of U.S. News & World Report’s Best Cars for Families in 2013, the Traverse doesn’t really need any more awards on its shelf, but Chevy is definitely not going to turn any down.
In fact, the latest award for the 2014 Traverse is that it has been named one of the “10 Best Family Cars of 2014” by Parents magazine and Edmunds.com. This is high praise and you can be sure that Chevy is going to be making space in the trophy case for this one.
Steve Majoros, marketing director of Chevrolet cars and crossovers, says that the winning combination of “capability and roominess of a traditional SUV with the attributes of a crossover” has made the Traverse a contender. The “car-like driving experience, low step-in height and good efficiency on the highway” are what make this mid-size SUV a true leader in the market.
As one of only two SUVs to make the elite annual list, the Traverse was given great reviews in the safety, value, and efficiency categories. Of course those are the reviews that pushed the SUV onto the “10 Best Family Cars” list for the second year in a row.
At Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet, we completely understand why the Traverse is so fantastic. With a 3.6L V-6 direct-injection engine that delivers 288 horsepower and an EPA-rating of 24 mpg highway, how could you not fall in love with this SUV? As a Top Safety Pick by the IIHS in 2013, we’d be willing to bet you’re already planning your trip to the dealership. If you’re not, you should be.
