5-Star Crash Performance Rating for the 2014 Chevy Malibu

The new 2014 Malibu claimed the highest possible 5-star Overall Vehicle Score for safety as part of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s New Car Assessment Program. This rating came about due to the impressive five-star performances in front and side crash tests performed on the Malibu, as well as a four-star score in rollover tests,

A large part of the Malibu’s success can be attributed to its many safety technologies, such as an ultra-high-strength steel safety cage, rollover protection, and 10 standard airbags, including knee airbags for both the driver and front passenger.

What the crash tests don’t show is the Malibu’s ability to avoid crashes altogether. Thanks to multiple active safety technologies—Forward Collision Alert, Lane Departure Warning, and Side Blind Zone Alert, among others—drivers of a 2014 Chevy Malibu are less likely to get into avoidable accidents. Sounds pretty great to us!

Best Car and Truck of 2014 are….the Chevrolet Impala and Silverado

Cars.com has announced its winners of the Best Car and Best Truck of 2014: the Chevrolet Impala sedan and the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 full-size pickup.

After careful deliberation and examination of the vehicles’ attention to innovation, quality, and value, both awards were presented at the North American International Auto Show. The Impala and Silverado were chosen from five other nominees in their respective categories.

The Impala received praise for its high-quality materials, excellent MyLink multimedia system, updated styling, and efficient powertrains, while the Silverado received high marks for its chassis strength, redesigned interior, and—once again—MyLink.

“Winning just one of these awards for an automaker is pretty tough, given the high number of quality cars and trucks that debut each year,” said Patrick Olsen, editor-in-chief of Cars.com. “For Chevrolet to grab both awards shows the depth of their ability to build desirable vehicles.”

This year’s winners of the Best Car and Best Truck of 2014 are available at Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet!

Corvette Stingray is Most Decorated Car

Now that 2013 is over, we thought this would be the best time to review some of the awards the new Corvette Stingray has already received following its launch a few months ago. The Stingray has really been hauling in the awards and Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet couldn’t be more excited to tell you about some of the most important ones. Well, they’re all important, but these are some of our favorites.

The Corvette Stingray is the industry’s most-awarded car of the year, and there are more to come. Most notably, the North American Car of the Year which will be handed out at the upcoming North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Chevy’s Stingray is a finalist for the prestigious award.

In the last few months, more than a dozen magazines, websites, and auto organizations have granted the Corvette Stingray their highest honor, including “Automobile of the Year” from Automobile magazine, “Performance Car of the Year” from Road & Track magazine, “Hottest New Car of the Year” from Forbes magazine, and “Car of the Year” from the Detroit Free Press.

Chevy SS Hits 163 MPH on Texas Toll Road

Are you a Chevrolet fan? Do you like to go fast? Then we know that you’ll love this video from Hennessey Performance Engineering:

Watch closely as the tuning company takes the Chevy SS to a closed-off section of a Texas toll road and see how fast they can push it. This run also gave state officials the chance to test out their new TxTag system, which successfully recorded the SS reaching a top speed of 163 miles per hour thanks to Hennessey’s HPE600 Supercharger upgrade.

The SS has the ability to go even faster, but Chevy has only allowed the SS to reach its top speed in the fifth of the six gears available. No doubt this a safety precaution for the non-professional drivers out there, but we wonder just how much more you could get out of the SS if someone unlocked that last gear.

By itself, the SS is pretty fantastic, but if you’d like an HPE600 Supercharger upgrade, Hennessey is just a phone call away. Of course, that might be a hard upgrade to install if you don’t already own a Chevy SS. Luckily, we can help you with that at Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet. See you soon!
